Cross Dock Systems

McKenna offers fast and convenient cross docking services

Sometimes, the most profitable way to manage your distribution and logistics requirements is also the most efficient. At McKenna, we offer our customers the opportunity to cross dock their products to keep products moving quickly through order fulfillment channels and to avoid incurring the additional costs of warehousing and handling.

What is a Cross Dock?

Cross docking improves transportation services by unloading products from incoming trucks or containers and then immediately preparing these products through specific labelling and packaging, for outbound shipping and order fulfillment. Cross dock systems eliminate the storage aspect of the distribution and logistics process, as your product never moves into the warehouse any further than the staging area of our facilities.

Products that are particularly well-suited for cross docking & warehouse systems include:

  • Perishable items, including many foods
  • Products that are already tagged or ticketed for sale (i.e. using barcodes)
  • Common retail products where demand is high or varies depending on seasonality or other factors
  • New products that are being introduced to the marketplace

When delivery customers are not geographically close to their manufacturer suppliers, cross docking offers a more regionalized approach to distribution which provides your customers shorter delivery timelines upon order placement.
